I want you to be safe near water, so make sure if you go near deep water, you are always with an adult. Never get close to the edge or sit on bridges or safety barriers. Weirs are dangerous and you must be very careful near them.

Open water is very different to a swimming pool. There may be strong currents and it might be very deep and hard to climb out. You will find it hard to swim because your muscles will not work properly in cold water.

Lifebouys should be left safely in their holders ready to save anyone from drowning. Never touch a lifebouy unless someone is drowning.
